Filmed and directed by Stephanie Coleman in 1992 with The House of Avant-Garde, this 30 minute film immerses us in Chicago’s vibrant, Black, LGBTQ+ ballroom scene. The film includes footage from the Unity Ball (1991), and the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Ball (1992).
The film will be shown along with Dori Walker’s 2024 film, In Living Memory, on Sunday, November 17, 2024, beginning at 12 noon as part of the Black Harvest Film Festival. Dori Walker, Stephanie Coleman, and Aaron Pierre Brown, one of the founders of The House of Avant-Garde, will be in attendance.
