THING’s impact on the LGBT+ community was profound.
The THING magazine records housed at Chicago’s History Museum contain outpourings of love in the form of letters, photographs, and notes from readers.
Robert Ford’s friends and family preserved his work and donated it to the Chicago History Museum in 1995. As a result, the writings, publications, photographs, research, audio, and video created by Ford and everyone at THING are available to any and all who would wish to view them.
The Chicago History Museum is located at 1601 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60614. For more information, please call (312) 642-4600, or visit www.chicagohistory.org. Admission is free. We encourage you to email research@chicagohistory.org to ensure that an on-site visit is best for your needs.
