Be Louder Than Hate

Far too often, anti-LGBTQ+ voices feel louder than affirming ones. How can we change that?⁣

Show up to events: Whether it’s a drag show, queer author event, LGBTQ+ market, etc., showing up is huge. It helps others see that these events are important and valued in the community.⁣

Send a positive note: Can’t attend an event? No problem! Send an email or post online with some words of encouragement. If a public place is hosting an event, make sure the host or owner knows that you support it.⁣

Be a (good) barrier: Anti-LGBTQ+ protestors will show up to events to yell, demean, or threaten LGBTQ+ folks. Cishet folks can be a physical barrier between protestors and attendees.⁣

Amplify: Share LGBTQ+ creators, events, joy, etc. instead of just reposting anti-LGBTQ+ hate. Amplify the epic work people are doing within the queer community.⁣

Individuality and diversity is what makes us shine!

“We teach kids and young adults that individuality and diversity is what makes us shine. We give them the confidence to embrace themselves fully and to use their voice to share their own stories.” ~ @vivicaccoxx
